Bain LornaBAIN, Lorna Jean - At age 96, with daughter Trish by her side, Lorna passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020 at Amica-Unionville.

She was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and moved to Ioco, BC at a young age, with her parents E.E.Dauphinee (Dauph) and Jean. Then the family moved to Sarnia where Lorna began her high school years at S.C.I.T.S. Following that, she attended the University of Toronto and graduated in 1945.

Upon her return to Sarnia, she worked in the lab at Imperial Oil where she met Fred Bain, whom she married in St. George’s Anglican Church on July 6,1946 and shared her life with him for the next 52 years.

St. George’s Church and the friends she made there were an important part of her life. Her charter membership in the I.O.D.E meant a lot to her, also.

She loved being a mother to her four children: Doug, John, Nancy and Trish. Happy times were spent on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, home of the island cottage for 30 wonderful summers. Along with a love of baseball she inherited a maritime sense of mischief from her father, which might explain why a life size cut-out of Joe Carter would appear on her front porch after many Blue Jay victories.

Lorna is predeceased by her husband Fred, and survived by her sister Joan Boone (Jim); her children Doug, John, Nancy and Trish; 6 grandchildren; Brian and Tim (Nancy), Jacob and Charlin (Trish) and Henry and Simon (John and Elizabeth) ;4 great grandchildren: Oliver and Gabriel (Tim and Alex) and Nathan and Avery (Brian and Danica).

Lorna’s ashes will be interred next to Fred at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery

We wish to thank Lorna’s  other family; the family of caregivers at Amica-Unionville who provided such tender, loving care over many years.
