SZETO, Wayne Hoi Wing - March 18, 1960 - May 19, 2020 - Wayne was taken away suddenly after an emergency surgery at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
Gone too soon but in his short life, Wayne had embraced every adventure and loved everything sports from an early age on. Until cervical stenosis took control of his life two decades ago, Wayne played hockey and rode a motorcycle. He was a bit of a dared devil! He also loved tennis, cycling, swimming, snorkeling, zip lining and exploring the rain forests in Costa Rica.
He made friends easily with everyone he encountered, at home and afar. He had dreams of living in Costa Rica where he found the friendliest people, sweetest animals, peaceful rain forest, sandy beaches and sailing in the warm ocean waters. His favourite food was freshly caught fish cooked by the boat captain although growing up, he hated the smell of fish! Go figure!?
Predeceased by his parents and his sister Carol, Wayne is the beloved brother of Yin, May, Penny, Judy, Hayley, and partner of John Jones. Wayne is the "fun uncle", adored by 17 nieces & nephews, and 18 great nieces & nephews. Wayne's love for his nieces and nephews was boundless, and it's only second to his love of sports.
Wayne will forever be in our hearts. We will miss him dearly.
Cremation will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2020. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at a later date.
