THOMSON, Leroy Franklin - 1946 - 2020 - It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Leroy Franklin Thomson at the age of 73 on June 25, 2020.
After a long and brave struggle with cancer, Leroy passed away in his home, just how he wanted it, surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Leroy was born November 9th, 1946 in Glace Bay Nova Scotia to the late Leroy (his name sake) and Harriet (Hattie) Thomson.
He was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters: Al (Bunny), Gerald, Audrey, Roy, Mary (Mame), Elizabeth, Vivian and Bonnie.
Leroy married the love of his life, Charlene Peckham on September 25, 1965 and they had 54 years of joy and happiness. CHARLENE!!!!!!! LOL
They were blessed with three amazing sons Leroy Franklin Jr, Dwayne Michael (wife Susan (daughter he never had) and Robert Patrick. Leroy was loved and adored by his sons who will continue to live on remembering the strong values instilled in them by their father.
He was Papa to two grandsons and two granddaughters and their families: Lucas and Justin Thomson, Katie & Affan Hayat (children Aayan & Zyan) and Lindsay & Jamie Britton (children Connor & Matthew. You would often find Papa with the grandbabies at the local park. He loved to take the kiddos to feed the ducks. He adored and was so proud of them all.
Leroy/Dad/Papa… Always remember….
In life, we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a special place,
That no one else will ever fill.
The family had decided to not hold a funeral at this time, we will do a Celebration of Life later when the family and friends can gather safely.
