Stricker IreneSTRICKER, Irene (Lucas) - April 15, 1924 - July 8, 2020 - Surrounded with love, Irene peacefully slipped away in the early morning of July 8, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She was in her 97th year.

Every day she missed her husband of 63 years, George, who passed away in 2011 and mourned that loss of her son Warren who passed in 2014.

Irene was born and raised in Montreal. In 1991, George and Irene moved to Brantford, Ontario. She was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 89 and had to leave her much loved home in Brantford.

There were difficult times as her dementia progressed, but with the help of the Neighbourhood Link day program, and Providence Villa respite program, Irene and her family were able to navigate her illness.

We will be forever grateful to the Nurse Practitioners, PSWs and Palliative nurse who cared for Irene over the years. One in particular was her day to day care giver, Marietta, who provided kindness and compassion every single day.

Irene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her dream to be a mother was fulfilled when her and George adopted 3 children; Bradley at 13 months, Warren at 9 months and Lynda at 6 months. She created a warm, loving home for the three of us to grow up in. The gift of a home, a name and a family to call our own, will never be forgotten.

She was selfless, kind, thoughtful and loving. She was an avid baker, and filled her family and friends with delicious home baking.

Irene will always be in the hearts of her daughter, Lynda (Andy}; her son Bradley (Henry) and her only grandchild, Drew. We are all so grateful she is now at peace and reunited with George.

Irene will be placed with George at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brantford at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or cards, a random act of kindness is the best way to honor her memory, especially towards those in need, or the elderly.
