MacGregor DougMacGREGOR, Douglas Malcolm (1949 – 2020) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved father, partner and coach, Douglas Malcolm MacGregor, on July 27, 2020, at the age of 70.

Doug will always be remembered as a man who devoted his life to the things he loved – his family, his friends, his Haliburton cottage and hockey.

Doug was born in Toronto to Malcolm MacGregor and Joyce Morley in 1949. He spent his childhood in Scarborough where athletics, especially hockey, became a fixture in his life. His love of sports took him to Western University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and played for the varsity hockey team.

After working for a short time in Vancouver, Doug and his wife settled in Markham, Ontario where they put down roots in the community and raised their three children.

Doug devoted his life to his family, but always found time for hockey. He not only played regularly well into his 60s, but he shared his knowledge, skill and passion for the sport with his sons and with hundreds of other young Markham hockey players through decades of dedicated coaching.

Off the ice, Doug was never happier than when he was entertaining family and friends at his Haliburton cottage. He was always up for a game of euchre, a beer on the dock or taking another spin around the lake in the boat, usually towing a happy wakeboarder or tube rider.

Doug was predeceased by his parents and by his wife, Elly MacGregor (nee Dekerf).

He will be greatly missed by his children Peter, Michael and Pamela; his loving companion Brenda Hollis-Page and her sons, Alex and Tristan; his siblings Bruce, Jeannie, Leslie and Mary; and by many close friends, neighbours and teammates.

Nothing would have made Doug happier than to know his beloved Leafs would soon be back on the ice. Go Leafs Go!

Donations in memory of Doug can be made to hockeywithheart.ca Hockey with Hearts / Unionville Men's Hockey Club: https://hockeywithheart.ca/make-a-donation/

A Private Family service will be held in Doug's memory. Arrangements with Chapel Ridge funeral home, Markham.
