Vant GaryVANT, Gary Francis - (1943 - 2020) - It is with sadness we announce the passing of beloved husband Gary F. Vant, Sunday evening, July 26, 2020.

Diane (Farstad) devoted and loving wife, inseparable best friend of 54 years, steadfast by his side as he slipped away into God’s hands. He will be missed by all who knew & loved him.

Generous, loving father of three children, Cheryl, David & James. Grandfather to three beautiful granddaughters: Ashley, Avery and Erin.

Devoted and loving son to deceased parents, Frank & Rita Vant, to whom he remained extremely close all of their lives.

Predeceased by his brothers Jack & Michael Vant, brother-in-law Dan Regliszyn. Survived by three loving sisters, Gail Leclair, Sherly (Dan) Salisbury & Judy Regliszyn, Sister-in-law Linda Vant, Brother-in-law’s Gary & Bob Farstad & Sister-in-law Linda Olson.

Born in small town Northern Ontario, Gary graduated top of his class at KLCVI. He excelled in math & moved to Toronto to pursue a career as a Master electrician working with major Corporations. The entrepreneurial spirit captured his heart & he opened his own successful business. He was dedicated, hardworking and enjoyed the loyal following of his customers who valued Gary’s work, his perfectionism, integrity and ethical professionalism. He continued into his 70th year before retiring.

Gary was known as an intelligent, kind, quiet family man with an inner impish nature. He enjoyed having fun but family was first. While in high school he held superior skills in gymnastics and retained that strength through the years. Gary was inquisitive and a natural student. He has a generous spirit & assisted those who struggled with studies after school & later on in life as they worked towards various trades. He enjoyed a good practical joke & told great funny stories provoking the inimitable Vant laugh that would inevitably fill the room with infectious laughter as everyone heartedly participated whether they heard the joke or not. If laughter is considered the best medicine there was plenty of it happening at a Vant dinner, Celebration or special event. That laugh & laughter has happily been passed on to nieces & nephews .. some say it can be identified blind folded in a crowded mall.

Home, together with Diane, was Gary’s refuge. Through trials & tribulations family was foremost and everyone who knew him understood he had high expectations. As Patriarch, Gary held himself to a higher standard, determined to be there for all. Their door was open - everyone welcome. He provided his family with love, safe haven, every necessity and much more.

Fondly remembered by many nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grand nephews, cousins, extended family & good friends. The Vant’s, Regliszyn’s, Salisbury’s, Leclair’s, Sobol’s, Farstad‘s, Olson’s & McMahon Families.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the angels at Trillium hospital, Mississauga who were kind & wonderful to Gary & the family.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you to please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements with Skinner & Middlebrook funeral home, Mississauga.
