Maize EnidMAIZE, Enid Noreen - Passed away at The Willows Estate Nursing Home in Aurora, Ontario due to complications from heart and lung disease and COVID-19 on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 86 years of age.

Beloved mother of Neil (Deborah), Janet (Peter), Valerie (Joel), Michael, and Katherine. Very proud grandmother of Rhiannon (Sam), Gordon, Louise, and Roy.

Enid is also survived by her brother Neil (Carol) and is predeceased by brother Eric (Sheila) and sister (Trixie). Enid was the dear daughter of William Thomas and Hazel Augustine Maize.

Enid was educated later in life at the University of Waterloo where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and followed it with a Master of Theology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. After graduation, she worked as a United Church Minister.

Enid was an accomplished singer and pianist having spent much of her life performing, directing, and arranging choir and musical productions. She was also an avid theatre enthusiast both as a patron and in production and performance on stage. Enid enjoyed writing poetry especially themed around family and friends. Although she wasn’t an athlete herself, she enjoyed watching sports and was an animated Blue Jays fan.

Enid was devoted to her church and her strong faith helped her through any adversity she encountered. Her positive attitude towards life was inspiring. This comforted family and friends particularly during a lengthy hospital stay and her time in a long-term care facility.

She will be most remembered as a loving mom.

Special thanks to the staff at The Willows Estate for their care especially with the added responsibilities required due to the pandemic. Additionally, we honour and give thanks to Enid’s many devoted friends that have helped and supported her through the years.

Arrangements entrusted with Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket. A memorial service will be held at a future date when it is safe for family and friends to congregate.

Memorial donations may be made to: the Canadian Lung Association www.lung.ca or The Ontario Poetry Society www.theontariopoetrysociety.ca/
