Hamlett MayHAMLETT, May Audrey (nee Burrows) - May Hamlett (nee Burrows) died peacefully at the age of 100 in Gibsons, BC on January 7, 2021.

Beloved wife of the late Leonard Hamlett. Dear mother of Phyllis Hamlett (Gibsons, BC), Terry William and Gordon Hamlett (Diane).

Loving grandmother of David William (Nalya Jessamy), Nicole Hamlett and Daniel Hamlett (Kelly). Great grandmother to Lucia May, Marcel, Parker and Maya. May was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

May was predeceased by her siblings Sidney, Robert, Nora (Baker) and Peggy (Hubbard). She is survived by her sister Sheila Pink in Calgary, Alberta.

May was born in Southampton, England in 1920 and emigrated to Canada with her family in 1928. May was proud to have been born in England but was a fervent Canadian and frequently expressed her gratitude to be a Canadian citizen. She loved Canadian history and its inventions, and proudly recalled Canada’s effort during WW2.

Her love of life, her sense of humour, her keen interest in people and world news kept her connected to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family events were of most importance as confirmed by her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. May loved to entertain and had many family parties and luncheons with her many friends.

Mum, you were our guiding light who was a role model of how to live ethically, generously and selflessly. You made a valuable contribution to so many people’s lives. May was always personable and a great conversationalist. She used to say, “always leave them laughing."

Arrangements entrusted with Giffen-Mack funeral home, Danforth Chapel, Toronto. Due to Covid, there will only be a private family farewell at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of May to The Breakfast Club https://breakfastclubs.ca or to your favourite charity. Mum felt every child should have a good breakfast before starting school.
