Samwaru JamesSAMWARU, James Nathaniel 'Nato' - (March 26, 1935 – January 11, 2021) -

With a heavy heart and profound sadness, the family of James Nathaniel Samwaru would like to announce his passing on January 11th, 2021 after a brief illness of natural causes at his home in Scarborough, surrounded by loved ones.

James Samwaru affectionately known as “Buddy Nato” and “Nato” is survived by his wife (of 65 years) Elsie Samwaru, 7 of 9 children, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grands.

James was born in Anna Catherina (West Coast of Demerara) but grew up in La Grange Village on the West Bank of Demerara in Guyana.

James was a loving husband and a protective father to his children. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his children’s basic needs were satisfied and that they had every opportunity to succeed in life. He was a God fearing man who instilled Godly values in his children from an early age.

His passing has left a huge void in the family and he will be deeply missed at all special events for his eloquent and profound speeches.

He was a caring person who possessed a great sense of humour and a unique laugh that added colour to the atmosphere. He had a flair for life and took pride in his personal appearance. This was particularly true when he made his annual trip back home. On these trips he always wore a tie and sports coat.

His entire family and his many friends will surely miss him. We take comfort in knowing that someday we will meet with him in the presence of Jesus.
