Hunter RaymondHUNTER, Raymond Maurice - (27 June, 1922 - 14 January, 2021) - Following a long and fulfilling life, Ray passed away peacefully, in his 99th year, following a short admission to Scarborough Centenary Hospital.

Never one to focus on his age or health, we thought he would go on and on. But... gradually, hearing declines, eyesight dims and hearts weaken.

Left to mourn his loss, is his wife of 22 years, Gloria (Imrie). Ray was blessed to have the love of two remarkable partners (predeceased by wife, Kathleen (Botting) in 1997).

He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Karen, and her husband Tony.

He leaves behind his grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) and Brian (Stacey). His great-grandchildren, Amelia, Audrey, Rowan and Sam brought much joy to his life. He will also be missed by his family through marriage, Jim (Dina), Sue (John), Taylor and Devon.

Ray was born Innisfil, and raised in Toronto. He proudly served Canada in World War 2, spending 3 years in the Army after enlisting at the age of 20. After the war, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at IBM, starting in the days when a computer took up an entire room! He was fortunate to travel the world both for work and pleasure.

An avid camper, he progressed from tenting to a travel trailer, pulling it across Canada and the US. He became a “cruiser” after meeting Gloria and they explored more of the world in style. Following his retirement, Ray bought a cottage on Chandos Lake where he enjoyed many years of wonderful family time, watching his grandchildren, then great-grandchildren, swim, fish and be “cottage kids," which brought him immense pleasure.

Ray was able to maintain his independence and stay in his own home until his hospitalization. His family is thankful for his caring neighbours and friends, and the kind, compassionate hospital staff.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Scarborough Health Network, Centenary Hospital.  Due to Covid protocols, there will be no public service. Arrangements entrusted with Ogden funeral home.
