Giacchetta BarbaraGIACCHETTA, Barbara Mariam - (November 3, 1933January 15, 2021)

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Domenico Giacchetta and her five children; June-Marie Vieau (Dave Vieau, deceased), Cindy Carder, Maria Giacchetta, Paolo Giacchetta (Andria Louca) and Angelo Giacchetta.

Loving grandmother to Elijah Vieau, (Veronica Vieau), Jasmine Vieau Bolea (Javi Bolea) and Noah Louca Giacchetta. Adoring great grandmother to Ruby Jude Vieau and Ramona Rose Vieau.

Barbara was born in Woodbrook Port Of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago to the dearly departed Phyllis Erline Whitehead Hosam and dearly departed Nicholas Ashoon Hosam.

She was the second eldest of 10 children, five boys and five girls. John Hosam (Clem Hosam, deceased), Otto Hosam (deceased), Irwin Hosam (deceased)(Zenobia (Cateye) Hosam), Mikey Hosam (deceased) (Norma Hosam), Myrna Hosam (deceased), Annette Hosam, Lenny Hosam (Yvette Hosam), Dianne Saldanah and Jenette Hosam Williams (Ikin Williams). Beloved auntie and great auntie to numerous nieces and nephews from Trinidad, the US and England.

She moved to Toronto in 1965 with her two young daughters June-Marie and Cindy, settling in the east end, Scarborough where she lived until her passing. She worked at Toronto East General Hospital in the Communications Department for 25 years, where she was loved and respected by her coworkers, the doctors, nurses and staff.

She will alway be remembered for her love of family, above all else. Her strength and courage, love of crossword puzzles, dancing, music, old movies and her famous dumpling soup. Barbara loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humour. She opened her home to all, treating everyone like family. She was kind, generous, patient and always thought of others with a kind word or gesture.

Our hearts are empty without her and we will miss her dearly, We are comforted knowing she is at peace, and no longer in pain, surrounded by her family who departed before her.

Private Arrangements and livestreamed funeral service are entrusted with Jerrett funeral homes, Scarborough chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada.
