Scott Anthony AlastairSCOTT ANTHONY, Alastair Muir   - May 1, 1939 - January 15, 2021

Alastair Muir Scott Anthony of Scarborough passed away peacefully at home on the morning of January 15, 2021 at the age of 81 years.

Born May 1, 1939 in Cape Town, South Africa, he was a kind and loving husband, father and adoring grandfather who treasured his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Adele (nee Shainline,) sons Graham and Brian and daughter-in-law Genevieve, sister Janine Law and husband Bruce, and five grandchildren: Ethan, Connor, Gage, Bronwyn, and Gwen.

Educated as a pension actuary first in South Africa and then the UK, Alastair became inspired by the potential of the emerging technology of computers.

This led him to change the course of his education in order to pursue technology and its application in the actuarial field.

Having met Adele while he was studying in the UK, Alastair immigrated to Canada in 1964, and his parents Nan and Jim soon followed.

In more recent years, he very much enjoyed spending time with and patiently mentoring his grandchildren, particularly in the art of canoeing and kayaking.

The Family Cottage at Dorset was a magnet for Alastair, especially when children, grandchildren, and the Shainline family were with him.

Alastair left an indelible impression on all who knew and loved him, and he will be sorely missed.
