Kirby ShirleyKIRBY, Shirley Elizabeth (nee FERGUSON)   - June 26, 1922 - January 20, 2021

Reluctantly ("still so much to do" Shirley said).

Shirley left us on January 20, 2021.

Shirley was born in Toronto, elder daughter of the late Tom Douglas Ferguson (1980) and Olive Violet "Daisy" (Jameson) Ferguson (1990).

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frederick Palmer Kirby (1999), stepson Robert William Kirby (1977), brother Tom Douglas Ferguson (Peter) 2005), sister Francis Carolyn Lippay (1980), special cousin Beryl Kathleen Korpal (1995), nephew Bruce Ferguson.

Shirley is survived by devoted nephews, Douglas Alexander Lippay (Debra), grandniece Nicole Lippay and Karl James Lippay and niece Shelagh Lippay. Also survived by nephews Gregory and Ian Ferguson and numerous second cousins.

Shirley was the last of 4 grandparents, 50 grandchildren. Shirley was an enthusiastic traditional rug hooker, scribbler (her word), family connector, volunteer and long-term foster parent through PLAN International.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Royal York Road United Church, 851 Royal York Road, when circumstances permit Celebration of Life events.

If desired, donations may be made to Royal York United Church Outreach programs, Out of the Cold, Amnesty International, refugee families, food banks, etc. or to your own favorite charity.

The family would like to thank all of Shirley's friends, neighbors and caregivers who added so much to her life especially in her later years.

Your thoughtfulness was always very much appreciated.
