Rose Jason JayROSE, Jason 'Jay' Mitchell - After a long battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we mourn the devastating loss of a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Jason (Jay) Mitchell Rose on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at age 57.

Jay was beloved by all who knew him. He was a positive and energetic person who loved being active.

As a young boy he excelled at hockey. He honed his skill with Bobby Orr and Mike Walton at their Orr-Walton Hockey Camp in the 1970’s and eventually made it to triple A.

He continued to play hockey throughout his life, finally playing with the infamous Falling Stars, a team of great friends he loved. He also loved golf, and enjoyed the men’s league where he met some wonderful friends who became a second family.

His great love for the outdoors was never more apparent than at the cottage on Drag Lake, Haliburton. During the summer, Jay loved the water and all it had to offer including boating, sea-dooing and other water sports, to finally relax on the dock, drink in hand soaking in the last rays of the sun. In the winter, he indulged his passion for snowmobiling, enjoying numerous snowmobile trips with like-minded friends travelling to North Bay, Cochrane, Mattawa and other snowy regions. Those friends became great friends who also meant so much to him. However, there was nothing he loved more than doing these things with his family, with a proud smile at being able to live life to the fullest with his daughters and wife.

Jay had a fulfilling and rewarding career as a Master electrician and partner in his family’s electrical company, Rogol Electric. He enjoyed his job and took pride in the work he did. He loved the camaraderie with his colleagues, fellow employees and all the people he met on the job. Many have expressed what a wonderful boss and kind person he was.

Jay will be remembered as a fighter of a vicious disease that took him too young. He has left sadness with many, but happiness with those who got to know him if for just a little while. We will remember him as a person who was positive with only kind words for everyone.

Jay is survived by his loving wife Karen, his two beautiful daughters Alexa and Abbey, his brother Michael (Nancy), new found family, birth mum Sandra, brothers Brian and Bill, and sister Michelle and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Annette Rose. He will be missed by brothers-in law Robert and Michael and families, father-in-law Raymond, and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted with Thompson funeral home, Aurora. A private funeral will be held by the family due to COVID rules. A Celebration of Jay’s Life will be held at the end of the summer at the cottage with family and friends per his wishes, pending the lifting of COVID restrictions.

Jay Rose July 23, 1963 - January 19, 2021
