MOORE, Edna Marion Dorothea (Wilkie) - Passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021 at The Villages of Humber Heights, Etobicoke in her 100th year.
She was the daughter of Maye (Pinder) Wilkie and Henry Wilkie.
Edna resided in Orillia Ontario for many years, the wife of Sandy Steeper and latterly in Napanee the wife of William Moore.
After William’s death in Kingston in 1981, Edna moved to Toronto and enjoyed all the cultural opportunities that a large city had to offer.
Her passions in life were the arts, theatre, literature, politics and extensive travel to many exotic world destinations. She had an amazing memory for detail and could recall many fascinating stories of her travels.
Edna cultivated friends all over the world and kept in touch with them regularly. She had beautiful penmanship and wrote long letters right up until this past Christmas. Her failing health in the last year caused her great unhappiness as she was fiercely independent and did not want people helping her, but all the acts of kindness, phone calls and visits from friends were much appreciated.
Edna is predeceased by her brother Harry Wellington Wilkie (2004) and her sister-in-law Isabella Wilkie (2017).
She is survived and will be missed by her niece Barbara (Wilkie) Raphael (Randy) of Ancaster, her adopted daughter Ann LaPlante of Barrie and her stepdaughter Georgia Moore (Mike) of Muskoka as well as various relatives in Canada and the USA.
Cremation has taken place as per Edna’s wishes.
