SMILEY, Eric Lorne - At the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 4:35 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family, Eric passed away as the result of an accidental drug overdose.
He was predeceased by his father Brian Smiley and will be sadly missed by his mother Susan Smiley and his step-father Brian Sampson, his sister Laura Smiley, his son Jonathan Butler-Smiley, his fiancee Melaine Butler, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Although Eric had his challenges in his life he was a kind person with a generous spirit who was quick to help others in need.
He enjoyed playing hockey for many years in his youth and taught himself to play guitar, often playing with certain groups on stage in Port Credit.
He later developed into a skilled carpenter who was much appreciated for the quality of his work.
There was no doubting the love and connection he shared with his son Jonathan and the disappointment he would have felt knowing that he could not share his passions with him as he grows up.
Eric received the Holy Anointing on his deathbed with the prayer that the Holy Spirit would be with him.
May he rest in the peace of Christ.
Cremation has taken place.
