MACRI, Francesca 'Lina' - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Francesca Lina Macri (née Romeo). She took her last breaths and died peacefully at home (Concord, Ontario) surrounded by her family on April 7th, 2021.
Francesca, or as she preferred “Lina”, was born on February 28th, 1931 to Carlo Romeo and Maria Galea, in Siderno, Reggio Calabria. She was the youngest and the last of seven children.
Lina was predeceased by her devoted husband Antonio Macri (1920 – 1980), of Siderno Marina, who she married on September 27th, 1956.
She was a loving mother to Angelo (Antonietta), Francesco (Tina), Caterina, and Giuseppe (Sara).
The most amazing grandmother to her nine grandchildren, Nicole (Mike), Anthony, Alyssa, Andrew, Michael, Francesco, Domenic, Emily and Sophia. She would name them off precisely in that order, from the oldest to the youngest. Also, a loving great-grandmother to her beloved “tesoro” Noah.
Life was not always easy for Mom, but with love, strength, perseverance and determination, she overcame many challenges, lived her life well, and kept everyone around her well-fed. She taught us many things, most importantly to always love and respect each other.
Her smile, generosity, and humour will live on in those she touched and will forever be in our hearts.
Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral mass and interment will be private. Arrangements and livestream funeral details are entrusted with Ward funeral homes, Woodbridge chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of York Region or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
