Dobrei MariaDOBREI, Maria (nee Virag) - (8 August, 193212 April, 2021) Maria Dobrei, nee Virag, was born August 8 1932 in Varoslod, Hungary.

She lived through the hardships of WWII in Hungary and in 1948 she and her parents, sister and aunt fled to Germany to escape the oppression of Communist Hungary. She emigrated to Canada in 1962, following her dear Aunt Marika, and is survived by her loving husband John.

She was a loving and devoted mother to Andrew, mother-in-law and godmother to Sarah, and beloved grandmother to Juliana, Katalin and Maximilian.

A devout Catholic of extraordinary faith, Maria touched countless others with her devotion to many prayer and rosary groups, her unfailing support of religious orders around the world and charities here at home. Committed to more than 20 years of weekly 1:00 a.m. Eucharistic adoration at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, she also supported and served at All Saints and St Elizabeth of Hungary parishes for as long as she was able.

She will be remembered for her unshakable faith, her spirit of generosity, her natural grace, and an unflinching sense of right and truth, which she passionately defended.

Her memory will endure for all who were touched by her generous love.

Friends and family are invited for visitation (LIMITED ATTENDANCE and RSVP is required) on Friday April 16th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday April 17, 2021 at St Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 2 pm. Interment to follow at York Cemetery.

For those unable to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions, you may access the service through livestreaming and for 30 days following the service at: http://ipickart.ca/stream/Dobrei/

Donations, in lieu of flowers can be made to St Elizabeth of Hungary R.C. Church. Condolences can be left at the Kane-Jerrett website.
