DISKIN, Steven 'Stevie' John - It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Steven. He would, however, want you to have a belly laugh rather than shed a tear!

Steven passed quickly at St. Michael’s Hospital on March 11, 2021 at the age of 67.

We are deeply grateful to the physicians and staff at St Michael’s, who took such remarkable care of him.

Steven loved to make friends everywhere he went both as a student at Shawnigan Lake School and as a beloved teacher at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School, among others.

He leaves behind many friends and family members across Canada and the United States, who will all miss him dearly. He is survived by his parents, Jack (Simon) and Virginia Diskin; his family in Toronto, Kate (wife, nee Ticehurst), Matthew (son), Rebecca (daughter-in-law), Heidi and John (grandchildren), Alli (daughter); his brothers and their families, Robert, Bradley (and his husband Alex), David and (his wife Faith and their daughters Zoe and Jade); his extended family in Winnipeg, Barb, Luce, Dan, Mary Jane, Maria, Paul and Jamie Debreuil; and the Stapp, Goke, and Higgins families.

It is impossible to mention all the family, colleagues, students, friends and strangers that Steven touched in his love, but it would be remiss not to mention his dear friends Kenna and Alf, Scott and Grit, Catherine and Rick, and Soraya and Dean, among so many others.

Given the current public health situation he will be interred privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to St. Michael’s Hospital (stmichaelshospital.com) would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of his life will be held when possible.

He is our Starchild and we know he is now continuing his beautiful journey into the Universe.
