Ascione GiuseppinaASCIONE, Giuseppina (nee Lucci) - Giuseppina Ascione (nee Lucci), age 92, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on Sunday May 2, 2021.

Giuseppina was born June 7, 1928 in Pescosolido Italy, to Angelo and Teresa Lucci (nee Cancelli).

Giuseppina was united in matrimony by proxy with Pasqualino Ascione in July 1953. In November 1953 she arrived in Toronto, Ontario to be with her husband Pasqualino.

Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Angelo (Mary) and Massimo (Lisa), and her adored only grandchild Matthew Patrick Ascione, (who was the light of her life) and her step grandsons Joseph and Michael and their families.

Giuseppina was predeceased by her loving husband Pasqualino, her siblings Gino, Maria (her best friend) Romeo and their spouses as well as her brothers in law Mario, Luigi, and their spouses.

She leaves behind a large extended family both in Canada and Italy and many friends that she made throughout the years.

Giuseppina was a woman of great faith and attended mass daily until age 91. She was an extremely active woman in her community, volunteering her time at St. Philip Neri Church, Humber River Hospital and Casa Verdi in various capacities until age 91.

Although only 5’ in height, she was a dynamo in and out of her home, always cooking and baking and attending to other’s needs. The annual crop from her massive garden was enough to feed an army which she shared happily with family and friends. Her home was “meeting place central” for anyone who dropped by, welcomed with a smile and an invitation for coffee and dessert. If you said no to that offer, then you received an invitation to lunch or dinner.

Her warm nature, kind heart, infectious laugh made everyone feel special and time spent with her was truly enjoyed.

We would like to thank her caregivers Sylvia and Antonia, who took exceptional care of “nonna” and made her children feel at ease knowing that she was in good hands. We would also like to thank Fr. Jeremiah of St. Philip Neri Church for the time he spent with mom. She truly enjoyed his guidance and company.

Mom set a wonderful example of how to live life that will be missed but never forgotten. We will miss you terribly, but you will be forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Humber River Hospital.

Arrangemnts and private funeral service (publicly livestreamed) are entrusted with Delmoro funeral home.
