MAYER, Susan - It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Susan (Shoshana) Mayer, on May 15, 2021 at the age of 94, after a brief illness and heroic struggle.
Born in Bulgaria, she was fortunate to survive the horrors of WWII and was spared, along with her family and the Bulgarian Jewry, Nazi deportation and extermination.
After graduating with a Pharmacy Assistant Diploma and marrying in Bulgaria, she moved to Israel along with her family and built a new life.
She worked in the optical industry, as did many of her family members, and following the untimely passing of her husband Dr. Isaac Mayer, she joined her son in Canada where she lived for many years and enjoyed a long marriage and life with Elliott Harris.
A loving mother to her only son, Joel and his wife Susan Keri, loving grandmother to Lauren and Lindsay, loving aunt to her nieces and their families in Israel. She leaves a legacy of a builder, having established homes in Israel, Canada, and Bulgaria, and supporting and providing for her family.
A Family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre that provided her with excellent care in the last phase of her life.
