LOPES, Maria Ines Rosa Soares - Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the age of 78.
Loving wife of Francisco for 56 years, mother of Candido, Cidalia (Michael Occhipinti), and Maria (Ron Duffy). Adoring Avó to Beatrice, Gianluca, and Liliana, all of whom will miss her beautiful smile and laughter.
Born in Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal, Maria emigrated to Toronto in 1968, and was proud to work in hospitality in addition to devoting herself to raising her children.
Maria loved tending to her garden with her husband, hosting Christmas and other celebrations, taking trips to Niagara Falls with her family, and socializing with her friends from Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Maria will be remembered as an immensely generous and compassionate woman.
Special thanks to all of the healthcare workers at Scarborough Health Network, and especially at the Temmy Latner Centre For Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital for their compassionate care during a very challenging year due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Temmy Latner Centre For Palliative Care at Mount Sinai Hospital would be appreciated by the family in memory of Maria Ines Lopes.
Arrangements are entrusted with Paul O'Connor funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 restriction the family will have a private visitation by invitation only on Friday evening, June 11, a private Funeral Mass at Precious Blood Church by invitation only on Saturday, June 12th, and a private interment at Pine Hills Cemetery by invitation only following the Funeral Mass.
