Dukacz JulianDUKACZ, Julian Joseph  -  Julian passed away peacefully, in Mississauga, on June 12, 2021, after a lengthy illness.

He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn (nee Shields) in 2017.

Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the son of Antoni and Victoria Dukacz, he will be missed by brothers Albert (Kathryn) of Mississauga, Paul and Stanley (Lynda) of Timmins, and sisters Lucy (Bob) Levinski of Kitchener and Jean in Ottawa.

He will be remembered fondly by nephews Ryan Dukacz, Rick and Mike Levinski (Margie Hogg) and Stephen Dukacz (Lily Sung) and niece Krysha Dukacz (Sean Carey), and by brother-in-law Dan Shields (Pauline Shu).

He also leaves great-nephews Declan Carey and Leo Levinski and great-nieces Charlotte Levinski and Isla Carey.

Julian earned a Toronto Star Atkinson Scholarship which allowed him to complete an honours programme in Mathematics, Science and Chemistry at the University of Toronto, where he specialized in insurance mathematics and statistics.

Following graduation in 1962, he became, at the time, the youngest person to complete the professional requirements of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

His career at Sun Life Assurance began in Montreal, moved with its corporate offices to Toronto, and concluded as Vice-President Corporate Taxation, from which position he retired in 2006.

His joys ranged from international travel with Marilyn and good friends Janet and Bill Wood, to sitting in a Timmins-Victoria Day weekend boat, anticipating soon-to-happen visits from elusive pickerel, to attending Saturday screenings of operas at Mississauga theatres with Bill (who, he delighted in noting, he was never able to beat at golf).

Julian's family is grateful for kind care provided by the fine staff at Sunrise Senior Living Home in Mississauga.

The funeral will take place at St. Christopher's Parish in Mississauga, with a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
