EKONOMOU, Helen - It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother and “Yayya” Helen Ekonomou on Saturday July 24, 2021.
She is predeceased by her husband Constantinos and her sweet and loving daughter Bessie.
Helen is survived by her children, Francis Ekonomou, Debbie Ekonomou, and Angelo Ekonomou and grandchildren, Melina, Eleni, Kosta, Yanna, Billy, Faith, and Alexis.
Helen immigrated to Canada from Pireus Greece nearly 50 years ago. She played a pivotal role in raising her grandkids and will always be remembered by them as an avid storyteller, lover of music and anything to do with flowers.
She spent hours tending to her garden and her home. Loved by her children, all her friends, neighbours, and many in the community. She will be forever missed.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The service will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr., Toronto on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 12:30PM.
