Sergnese EnnioSERGNESE, Ennio - Passed away peacefully on September 13, 2021 in his 90th year at Sunrise Senior Living of Richmond Hill.

Ennio was the beloved husband of Filomena (Puopolo).

He was the cherished father of Marisa (Angelo), Angelo (Chariza) and Dino (Charlene).

He was the proud grandfather of Marc-Anthony, Kassandra, Ryan, Mitchell and Madelyn.

He was the ‘big brother’ to Grace and the late Rosario.

He was also treasured by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ennio was born in Castropignano, Italy.

At the age of 19 years old, he came to Toronto, Canada to seek new opportunity. From his first job at the Royal York Hotel as a bartender, he worked to realize his dream of owning his own business.

As a new immigrant to Canada in the 50’s, not only did he learn a second language very quickly while opening his own business as a hairdresser, he also actively worked to help sponsor many relatives to North America from Italy.

At the age of 41 years old, he was finally able to retire and moved to the outskirts of Port Perry where he thrived on his ‘hobby farm’.

The Italian seniors club was the conduit to many adventures where he became a champion bocci and scopa player. Ennio’s influence on those who knew him is best described by his nephew Daniele who reflected, ‘in my eyes he was a Titan amongst men, and I’d say even better than Santa Claus’.

We are grateful for the time we shared together and the memories he has left us with. These memories are life lessons and true inspiration to be the best we can be with every day we are gifted.

Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill on Thursday, September 16th, 2021. The service will take place at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 10295 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at 10:30am.
