Hodges Dr RobertHODGES, Dr. Robert "Dale"   -   March 7, 1939 - September 11, 2021

Dale was born in Barrie, Ontario, in 1939, attending Prince of Wales Public School and later Barrie Collegiate.

He worked in his father's Barrie-Allandale dairy, developing a passion for all things dairy related.

He met the love of his life, Joan Tait, in tenth grade and they went together to University of Toronto in 1958.

They married in 1962 and celebrated 58 years of marriage just prior to her passing in September 2020.

The first in his family to attend university, Dale had a fulfilling career as a dentist and specialist for children with developmental disabilities.

He proudly followed the accomplishments of his sons, Brian and Bruce, and instilled in them his loyalty to family. In the 1980s, Joan and Dale built their Shanty Bay home high on the shore of Lake Simcoe, where they tended their oasis of gardens and trees.

From there they spent many years venturing out into the world to see the places they read about through their shared love of history and genealogy.

Dale is survived by his sons Brian (Robert) and Bruce (Susan) and grandchildren Jack and Sara Hodges, as well as his brothers Don (Terry) and Doug (Mary) and their children.

Dale will be interred in a private family ceremony at Barrie Union Cemetery where his wife Joan and generations of the Hodges family rest.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Simcoe County Museum, online: https://museum.simcoe.ca/support or by calling 705-728-3721.
