SMITH, Sister Mary Alexandrette (Felician Sister) - Sister Mary Alexandrette (Jenny Martha) Smith, 97, peacefully went home to her God on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Notre Dame Convent in Waterdown.
During her 75 years of religious life, Sister served as a teacher, principal, provincial superior, educator for the Holy Childhood Apostolate, pastoral assistant at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Welland, and pastoral visits to the homebound in Hamilton.
She also worked in formation and retreat work. Sister Alex was a deeply spiritual, caring, and friendly person who brought compassion and joy to all to whom she ministered.
Sister was predeceased by her parents, Lucas and Victoria, as well as all of her 12 brothers and sisters.
She is the beloved aunt of many! The Felician Sisters express their sincere gratitude to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, and their nursing staff for their dedicated care of Sister Alex since 2011.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the Holy Name of Mary Convent Chapel on Tuesday, September 14th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Felician Sisters.
