Hawthorn MargaretHAWTHORN, Margaret   -  Peacefully, at home, with her family by her side, on September 22, 2021, after a remarkable life as a committed feminist, social democrat and egalitarian.

Cherished mother of Chris Currie (Lene Rosenmeier).

Devoted grandmother of Graham.

Beloved sister to Clare Whittaker (John) and aunt to Laura Ingleson (David).

Margaret was born in 1936 in Tokumaru Bay, New Zealand, grew up in Vancouver, BC, studied at UC Berkeley, and made her home in Toronto for the past 50+ years.

She was a librarian at U of T Erindale and in retirement volunteered extensively with senior women's causes, social justice issues, literacy, politics, and the environment.

A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel on Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Margaret's life beginning at 1:00 p.m. Due to Covid restrictions, space is limited and registration is required.

As per the family's request, fully-vaccinated guests are welcome to register through the Turner & Porter website.

For those who are not able to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed and a link will be available on Margaret's memorial page.
