Bertolo ElsaBERTOLO, Elsa (Colautti) - (1929 - 2021) - With deepest regret, we announce the loss of our beloved mother, Elsa, who passed away peacefully at her home in Port Credit on Wednesday September 15th, 2021.

She was the best mother anyone could have and she loved her family and friends with all her heart.

Elsa was born in Fiume Veneto, Italy, the youngest of 8 children. Elsa met her husband, Antonio (deceased 2011) and in 1958 and they married and shortly after immigrated to Canada. They settled in Cooksville where they lived with Zia Antonietta and Zio Giovanni and their children. Their daughter Laura was born there and 2 years later they moved to Port Credit and their son Danny was born.

Elsa always loved children and had many nieces and nephews she loved to take care of. We were reminded by one of her nieces (Loretta) that when Elsa was young, her older brother, Aldo who was living in France with his family and he asked Elsa to come to France to pick up his young daughter Loretta and bring her back to Italy and take care of her. Mom was thrilled and looked after Loretta for six months until her parents relocated back to Italy. Loretta considers Elsa her second mother.

Elsa loved to help people. She was a housekeeper for many families and seniors and she still receives letters and Christmas cards from some of their children.

Our mom has always kept in touch with family and friends in Canada and all over the world. She will be missed by all.

Arrangements are entrusted with Skinner and Middlebrook funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
