LAIRD, Ada 'Sheila' - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Sheila on September 28, 2021 in the city of Mississauga.

Predeceased by her parents Fredrick and Hilda Hutt, brother Derek Hutt and sisters Joan Locker and Peggy Holt.

Sheila was also predeceased by her husband of 69 years Leonard and her daughter Brenda. She was the glue holding the family together and will be sorely missed by all.

Sheila was born in Felling on Tyne, England. She joined the Royal Air Force (WAAF) in 1942 and met and married a Canadian Soldier and her lifelong dance partner, Len in 1943. Sheila came to Canada in 1946 as a War Bride with her 2 young sons (David and Alan), a journey that she wrote about for the Canadian Immigration Museum at Pier 21 in Halifax.

She was a gifted storyteller, and many of her stories spoke plainly of an early life that contained very little in terms of worldly possessions. However, each tale told was imbued with the richness of love, affection, and a deep appreciation for her hardworking parents and family.

You were always left with the impression of a life lived well, full of love and bountiful in ways more important than what can be seen or held in your hands.

She is survived by her sons (Alan and David), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild whose photos lined her house on Warden Ave. and later her apartment in The Villages of Erin Meadows.

A date for a funeral has not been set as yet but will be held at St. Jude Anglican Church Wexford.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Star Fresh Air Fund or St. Jude Church Wexford would be appreciated.
