Gorbet CharlotteGORBET, Charlotte (Adelman) - June 28, 1916 - October 12, 2021

Charlotte (aka Mom, Bubby and MEGA) died peacefully, in the presence of her children, in her 105th year.

She enjoyed a magnificent birthday party with family and friends at the end of August and spent a happy Thanksgiving with family on October 11. She decided the timing and the manner of her death with the same positive attitude and competence with which she managed her life.

Charlotte was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a long career as a teacher in Welland, Ontario where she lived until 1993.

She specialized in helping children with special needs. She was passionate about education and played a positive and transformative role in the lives of many of her students. She loved theatre, opera and travelling to Sarasota, Florida for the winters.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Frank (1990) and her daughter Betty-Anne Zoldan (1992). She will be missed and lovingly remembered, by her children Fred and Charleen, Frances, Carolyn and Ed Haltrecht, and Jay Zoldan.

She will be forever "Bubby" to Rob and Maud Gorbet, David and Jennifer Gorbet, Matt and Susan Gorbet, Vanessa Haltrecht, Jenny (Haltrecht) and Bill O'Leary, Michael and Laura Zoldan, and Andrea Zoldan. And she will live on in memory as MEGA to her great-grandchildren Ameline, Simon and Luc Gorbet, Sam Gorbet, Julia and Oscar Gorbet, Jack O'Leary, Liam Haltrecht and Sophia Zoldan.

At the celebration of her 100th birthday, Charlotte made an amazing speech to more than 120 family and friends who gathered to mark the occasion. She spoke about her past and about the future that she saw for her grandchildren. She was wise and witty, as always. She left her audience with the following advice:

Count your garden by its flowers not by the leaves that fall. Count your days by golden hours; don't remember clouds at all. Count your nights by stars, not shadows. Count your life by smiles, not tears.

And each year on your birthday, count your age by friends, not years.

Charlotte --- rest in peace, knowing that your legacy lives on.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
