CHUMAKOV, Boris Theodore - 83, of Toronto, Ontario passed away on Saturday October 9, 2021, at Hospice Vaughan after a brief, but devastating illness.
He was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and emigrated to Canada in 1954, settling in London, Ontario and eventually Montreal, Quebec and Toronto, Ontario. He taught high school social studies in Montreal and retired as a senior scholar after 28 years at York University.
Boris is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joanne (nee Miller), his daughter Elizabeth Galitzine, son Michael Chumakov, son-in-law Gregorii, daughter-in-law Melissa and grandchildren Peter, Ksenia and Theodore Galitzine and Ariadna and Ilya Chumakov.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital and Hospice Vaughan for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services. Panikhida in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, Toronto, at 6 PM on Tuesday October 12th, and funeral at 9 AM on Wednesday October 13th. Interment in New York on Thursday October 14th at 3 PM.
