Bracken DanielBRACKEN, Daniel 'Danny' - (1934 - 2021) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel “Danny” Bracken on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Dan is survived by his wife, Ruth (nee Ryan); his children, Shelagh (Richard), Kathleen, Sean (Juli) and Ryan (Alisa); his grandchildren Jeremy, Rachel, Aidan, Kyleigh, Emily, Megan, Jake, Tyler, Luke and Nate; his siblings Freddie (Dolores) and Vivien (Ralph).

His final days were spent in the family home that brought him such comfort, surrounded by those who loved him most.

an was predeceased by Tracey (Kathleen) and his Mum and Dad, William and Rae Bracken.

Dan immigrated to Canada with his family in May of 1953. Upon settling in Toronto, he began his career as a draftsman before joining Ontario Hydro in a career that spanned more than 25 years.

A lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he proudly cheered on their last Stanley Cup win in 1967 from his season tickets seats at Maple Leaf Gardens. His passion for hockey and the Leafs were shared with his children and grandchildren up until his passing.

A talented photographer, Dan was rarely spotted without his camera as he captured countless memories of family and friends. It was his passion but his focus soon shifted to the love of his life, his dear wife, Ruth. The pair met in November 1963 and had their first date on New Year’s Eve before marrying in September 1964. Together they built a life that spanned 57 years, four children and 10 grandchildren.

Dan would often raise a glass of scotch to celebrate the family and life he was proud to call his own.

Arrangements are entrusted with Andrews funeral home, Brampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
