Kirby MagdaleneKIRBY, Magdalene - Peacefully on October 24, 2021 in her 97th year.

Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Michael.

Beloved mother of the late Linda Cresswell (Murray), Dan (Martha) and Terry (Tad d.) Caring Grandmother to Sarah (Chris), Joe (Jeanine), John, Ben, Jennifer (Bruno), Kyle, Carling (Brad) and Alex.

Proud Great Grandmother to Killian, William, Elizabeth, George, Myles and Charlotte.

Lee was born on May 31, 1925 in Romania, immigrating to Canada as a two-year old child with her parents, Martin and Elizabeth Werlick, in their quest for a better life for their children.

Settling in downtown Toronto with her brothers Martin, George and sister Susan she adhered to the path of hard work embodied by her parents.

A World War II pen pal relationship in 1945 blossomed into a 57-year marriage. Proud parents of three, Lee and Mike raised their family in Ontario moving from the city to pursue opportunities in Parry Sound and Magnetawan. Retirement saw them return to Markham.

Overcoming many health issues, Lee faced obstacles which she overcame with tenacity and determination. The loss of Mike in 2002 proved difficult but, with her will to live, and with the active support of her church and family, she found comfort and contentment in her final years.

She was an aficionado of needlepoint throughout her life, with an unparalleled eye for detail. A remarkable woman in so many ways. She will be greatly missed.

The memorial service will take place at Dixon - Garland Funeral Home, Markham on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm,
