GREEN-FISCHER, Karen   - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Karen Green-Fischer, who passed peacefully at her home on November 15, 2021.

Karen, whose Hebrew name was Kayla Bayla, was the oldest daughter of Goldie Feldman and the late Abraham Green.

Karen was born in Toronto in 1950, into a large, loving and extended family, whose values were steeped in Jewish traditions: charitable giving, education and culture.

These values guided Karen throughout her life.

Although being a primary school teacher was Karen's first career, her love of art and culture would inform the rest of her professional life.

She became an art gallery owner and supported the arts often with transformative gifts.

She was a passionate lover of music, a singer herself who performed in the JCC community choir for decades. She passed on her love of music to her sons, who today are talented musicians, with one son having made his career in music.

Karen was extremely generous to others and through her family foundation supported a myriad of arts and wellness organizations, especially women's health care.

Karen loved people, had a wonderful sense of play and humour which resulted in a huge circle of friends. Her greatest love was reserved for her husband and children.

She was a devoted, dedicated wife to George Fischer for 33 years and a loving mother to Sean and Ryan Fischer.

Karen also leaves behind her grieving mother, sisters Donna and Lindy, brothers David and Barry, sisters-in-law Daphne, Laurie and Pam, and brothers-in-law Mike, Sam and Irwin.

Her many aunties, uncles, nephews and nieces also felt a closeness to Karen and deeply mourn her loss. For those of us who knew and loved Karen, our sorrow is weighty.

Karen will be remembered. She will be loved and missed.

May her memory be a blessing. Forever.
