Kroetsch AlbertKROETSCH, Albert Alexander Albert Alexander Kroetsch passed away peacefully at his Amica residence in Unionville on Sunday November 21, 2021 at the age of 89.

Albert is predeceased by his parents Leo and Bertha (nee Hartman), sisters Sister Gertrude and Sister Bernice, Agnes Voll and Mary Ann Paolini, brothers Cletus and Fr. Jerry, sister-in-law Betty and brothers-in-law Ian MacDonald and Bert Paolini.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Edna (nee Hughes), his sister Sister Sharon, brother-in-law Carl Voll, his children Sharon (Jim) Gusz, Jerome (Shirley Mantyla) and David (Jennifer), 5 grandchildren, Nikko (Thadsha), Johanna, Evan, Braeden and Christopher Gusz, and many nieces and nephews.

Albert was born in Waterloo where he attended St. Louis School and later St. Jerome’s College.

As a child, in his spare time - between completing household chores, working part time in a furniture factory, and being an altar server - he enjoyed playing baseball, curling and activities with the Catholic Youth Organization.

Immediately following graduation, he began his long career with the Bank of Montreal. His work in the bank brought him and his family to Watford, Perth, Belleville and in 1969 to Toronto.

Albert enjoyed gardening, woodworking, volunteering with youth baseball and hockey organizations, wine-making and playing bridge. He was dedicated to the call to assist the Church and others. He served on several parish committees and for many years was the coordinator of ShareLife in his parish.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ShareLife Foundation https://sharelife.org/, the Congregation of the Resurrection https://resurrectionists.ca/, School Sisters of Notre Dame https://ssnd.org/ or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are entrusted with Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, Scarborough.
