McDONNELL, Sister Mary Joan, IBM, - Died peacefully at Presentation Manor, on November 22, 2021.
Sister Mary Joan was in her 86th year of life and her 61st year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters).
Predeceased by her parents, James McDonnell and Alicia O'Brien; brothers, Francis, Kenneth, James and John (Jack); and sisters, Helen Bourne and Anita McDonnell.
From 1964 to 1988, Sister taught in elementary schools in Toronto and Niagara Falls.
She later served as a chaplain in Palliative Care at Providence Centre from 1989 – 1994, then in several volunteer positions from 1994 – 2010 when she moved to Loretto College.
She assisted with pastoral care in Loretto Infirmary from 2001 until 2003.
Mary Joan will be sadly missed by her family, friends and Sisters in community.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Presentation Manor Chapel, 61 Fairfax Crescent, Scarborough, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow.
