Geronimo MicheleGERONIMO, Michele - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday November 22, 2021, at the age of 89.

Devoted husband of Nicoletta of 63 wonderful years. Proud father of Ralph (Jane), Tony (Ada) and Maria. Cherished Nonno of Nicole, Lauren, Andrew, Michael and Marco.

Son of Raffaele and Maria. Loving brother to Steve, Menuccia, Matteo, Frank, Genia, Vito, Domenic. Michele will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He immigrated to Canada at the young age of 20 to pursue a better life. Unable to speak English and with no money, he worked extremely hard. Often working two jobs and seven days a week. He persevered and sacrificed and eventually succeeded in raising a family along with his wife Nicoletta, who he had brought back with him from their hometown of Toritto, Bari.

He maintained old world traditions such as wine making and tomato sauce canning. He was passionate about gardening and ornamental care. He was an early riser and often could be found in his garden until dusk. He was also a master at pruning and grafting fruit trees in order to yield maximum fruit.

When the time was right, Michele retired after a 33-year career working for the City of North York in order to spend more time with the grandkids, who he adored. In his leisure time, Michele enjoyed watching hockey and loved to occasionally take in a game at the ball park and cheer on the Blue Jays. His favorite TV programs included old time shows like Sanford and Son, All in The Family, Carol Burnett, and Sunday afternoon Wrestling.

He also enjoyed spending time at the local community centre playing cards and discussing current events with the other retirees.

A special thank you to all the staff at Villa Colombo for the many years of care.

“Forever loved, always remembered”

Arrangements entrusted with Ward funeral homes, Woodbridge chapel.
