DRUKIER, Manny   -  Passed away peacefully on January 10, 2022 at the age of 93.

Manny was born in Lodz, Poland and survived the Holocaust to settle in Toronto in 1948.

He was a successful, self-taught entrepreneur with wide business interests, including furniture sales and manufacturing (Craftline Industries), importing and real estate.

He got his first taste of publishing with La Carte magazine in 1984 and became a dedicated supporter of Toronto's literary and arts scene. He also published The Idler magazine from 1986 until 1989 and ran The Idler Pub ("the only civilized bar in Toronto"), a local arts and literary institution, for 15 years to give his wide circle of artists, writers, readers and followers a place to gather.

He loved being surrounded by family, friends and acquaintances - anyone with a little life in them - and was an energetic mentor to writers, artists and entrepreneurs.

Manny is survived by Freda, his loving wife of 60 years; son Gordon (Helen), daughters Laurie, Wendy (Anne) and Cindy (Jan), grandchildren Chana (Mendel), Leah, Avraham, Menachem,Brett, Tziporah and Maya; and great-grandsons Benzion and Peretz.

The family would like to thank everyone on Manny's care teams at Mount Sinai Hospital, especially in the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care; Dr. Elliot Lass, Jennifer, Laura and Xochil with the Toronto Central Home and Community Care Support Services; Dr. Lindy Romanovsky; and the many nurses, PSWs and other staff who helped make his last months and years comfortable.

Your time, skills and genuine dedication to care were an incalculable support and comfort to Manny and his family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sinai Health Foundation, 416-586-8203.
