VALLE-GARAY, Pastor   -  (1936 - 2022) With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Pastor Valle-Garay, after a lengthy illness.

A truly gifted educator, he shared his love of culture and language with many students during his lifetime of service.

As a young college student, he found work as a Latin dance instructor in San Francisco.

Upon moving to Toronto with his wife and daughter, he taught English as a Second Language to adult immigrants coping with the challenges of adapting to a new country.

It was through a series of fortunate coincidences that he found himself responding to an urgent need for a Spanish language instructor at York University.

His eloquent mastery of Spanish, first hand knowledge of life in Central America, combined with a natural storytelling ability and wonderful sense of humour, endeared him to many students who found his teaching style engaging and expansive.

He devoted more than forty years of his life to his love for teaching at York University, while also finding time to speak out against the oppressive political structures of his home country, Nicaragua.

He is survived by daughters, Jacqueline (grandchildren, Breanna and Ryan), Michelle (grandchildren, Kali and Kaitlyn) and Nicole, and sons, Alejandro, Gianfranco, Claudio and Antonio.

He will be dearly missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in Miami, FL.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Southlake Residential Care Village, as well as the ICU staff at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket.

A family Celebration of his Life will be held at a later time.

Rest in Peace, Papa.
