Young JoanneYOUNG, Joanne Winifred (nee DAVIDGE)    - July 11, 1927 – January 9, 2022

Joanne grew up in Weston, earned her BA in Social Work at University of Toronto, later earning her MA in Education at University of Western Ontario.

While at the U of T, she married William Lorne Young who died in 1956 as a result of exposure to radiation.

After 1964 Joanne taught high school in Haliburton, Scarborough, and Exeter.

In the 80s she marched against nuclear arms and engaged in civil disobedience, and wrote Nuclear Family, One Woman's Confrontation with Atomic Power.

She was active in The Voice of Women and The Raging Grannies and supported many charities.

Predeceased by sisters Janet, Shirley, Marlene, and grandson Jonathan.

She will be missed by her son Bill, her three daughters, Karen, Janet, and Gayle, Gayle's husband Reiner, her grandsons Ted and Lorne, her sister Vida, her brother-in-law Fred, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was admired and respected for her tenacity, intelligence and fighting spirit, a wonderful storyteller with a sense of humour like no other.
