LAMBRAKIS, James Demetrios   -  November 30, 1928 - April 22, 2022

A proud father and grandfather, loving husband and an incredible mentor to all that surrounded him, we now say goodbye to James Lambrakis.

Born on November 30, 1928, in the small village of Koniditsa, Laconia, Greece, James was raised in a hardworking farming community, and was one of four children of Panagiotis and Marigo Lambrakis.

At the young age of 16 he aspired for greater opportunities and left home, determined and full of hope to become something bigger, a goal he proudly accomplished.

James was a skilled master tailor, an enthusiast of the outdoors and fishing.

Most of all, James was a father and husband that many could only aspire to be.

James arrived in Canada in 1955, with only a few dollars in his pocket, and from that went on to provide a home for his family, and raise two loving daughters, Margaret and Leah Lambrakis (Jamie Bras).

He enjoyed a full and fruitful life in retirement with the love of his life, Melpomene, knowing his daughters were well taken care of and their families were thriving.

However, the pride and happiness James felt the most was being with his three grandsons, Demetri, Lucas and Robert James. These boys meant everything to him and they deeply knew his love.

His favorite days were Sundays on Stoney Lake, fishing with his family and singing "up-and-down-we-catch-a-fish". There isn't anything we would not do, to be able to have one more Sunday with him on the same lake, on his beloved boat with fishing rods in hand, eating the sandwiches Mama prepared and listening to that little AM/FM radio.

Life was good and we were the lucky ones to be his girls.

Thank you for giving us this beautiful life, we only hope you have the same eternal happiness. James is survived by two sisters, Chrisoula and Eleni.

Funeral arrangements with Highland Funeral Home. A church service will be held at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 10–11 a.m. Burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Melpomene has requested that donations are made to either of the following Ukrainian Relief programs: UNHCR Canada www.give.unhcr.ca, Ukrainian Red Cross www.donate.redcrossredcrescent.org.
