LAFFEY, Mary (May) (nee GAFFNEY)   -  With grateful hearts for a life well loved and well lived, the children of Mary announce her death on April 23, 2022.

Born in 1925, at home in County West Meath, Ireland, the only girl in her family of six brothers.

She immigrated to the United States, following our dad there, to start a new life.

Within a year of marrying, our parents relocated to Toronto in 1952.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stephen ('88); her children, Kathleen ('56), Maureen ('58) and Tim ('02); her parents, Mary and Michael Gaffney; her brothers, Willie, Jimmy, Michael, Paddy and Tommy.

She is survived by and deeply mourned by her children, Padriag (Carrie), Nick (Linda), Brian (Bev), Tina and Eileen. She was grandma to Melanie (Raymond), Michael (Natalie), Matthew (Niki), Christina, Stephen (Chrissy), Fiona (Michael), Erika (Allan), Jenny (Nate), Andrew, Caleb (Cailtin) and Devon.

She was great-grandma to Colton, Hudson, Nicolas, Gigi, Jasmine, Adrian, Walker, Paisley, Miller, Nolan, Ila and Ellis. She leaves behind her brother, Charlie (Angela) and her sister-in-law, Theresa.

She was Auntie May to many nieces and nephews, in Ireland, England, Scotland and New Zealand. She was Ms. Mom or the Bingo Lady to Brenda Lawrence and honourary grandmother to Griffin French. Dear friend to Dorie Dunne and Frances van den Enden.

The family wishes to thank the staff on the Elms, at Kipling Acres, for all of their care and love they gave her during her years living there.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Kipling Acres recreational programmes.

Friends will be received at Lynett Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas Street West, Toronto, on Thursday, April 28th from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 29, 2022 at St. Joan of Arc Church (1701 Bloor Street West, Toronto), at 10 a.m.
