POWER, Louise (Lois) Bernadine (nee COOLEN) - Lois passed away peacefully in Toronto, April 20, 2022, at the age of 90.
She is survived by son Rev. Brian Stevens (Martin Ruiz); sisters Rita, Terry and Shirley; as well as nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband Charles Power, daughter Beth, brother Gordon Coolen and first husband, William Stevens.
Lois worked at Stairs Son & Morrow, Simpsons, Industrial Machinery and Dominion Stores. She also volunteered as secretary of the Halifax Figure Skating Club for several years. Her second marriage to Chuck took her to Levack, ON, returning to Halifax in 1999.
Summers were spent gardening or vacationing on PEI.
In 2013, following Chuck's passing, Lois moved to Toronto. She loved to dance and was a ferocious knitter. An avid sports fan, curling, tennis, hockey and figure skating were always the centre of conversation, as were her dogs.
She will be greatly missed! Memorial donations may be made to St. FX University (Music Dept.), Breast Cancer Society of Canada or Hope United Church.
A memorial visitation for Lois will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., Toronto, ON.
A memorial service will occur Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Hope United Church, 2550 Danforth Ave., Toronto, ON M4C 1L2.
