Gorsic CarolGORSIC, Carol Marie Annette   -  February 10, 1932 - April 25, 2022

After living a long and illustrious life, Carol passed away on April 25th, 2022, following a long battle with cancer.

Born on February 10, 1932, in Granby, Quebec, Carol was known from childhood for her inquisitive mind and her kindness.

She was 90 years old.

Carol married her late husband, Frank Gorsic – born in Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia – in Granby 1962, and now joins him in Heaven.

They relocated just before having their two children in Toronto, and would build a home there for the ensuing decades to come – even though she would always miss the freshness of the bread in Quebec and have a soft spot for French songs.

Carol knit her family together with her joy, her thoughtfulness, and her boundless compassion.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Gorsic McCabe, and her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Jill Gorsic, her four grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Jayd and Shanay, as well as nieces and great-nieces/nephews in Quebec and Slovenia.

Carol was an extraordinary caregiver and gave endlessly of herself to both her mother, Ethel Roberts Alix, and her husband during his long illness.

She is predeceased by her four siblings Raymond, Norman, Alfred and Dora. Outside of her family Carol made fast but lifelong friends.

The family is eternally grateful to her phenomenal caregivers, especially Rowena Abaratigue, a woman of indomitable spirit. Carol will be remembered as a lady of class and distinction who never hesitated to invite either a friend or stranger in for a piece of homemade baking.

She had an uncanny wit and fantastic sense of humor. She was an amazing woman and wife and an extraordinary mother and friend.

The family will receive family and friends for Viewing: May 3, 2022, 9-10:30 a.m., McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road, Scaroborough, Ontario, and a Catholic Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Parish - Shrine of the Little Flower at 2559 Kingston Road in Scarborough, from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations towards the amazing work of the Canadian Cancer Society and Canadian Feed the Children foundations.
