Cooke PaulCOOKE, Paul Gary   -  We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Gary, on May 2, 2022, at 80 years of age, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Deeply-loved and never forgotten by his wife of 56 years, Patricia and forever adored by his daughter Jennifer.

Predeceased by his parents Adeline and Gerald Cooke and brothers Bill and Bruce.

Beloved brother of Joan, Susan and Michael (Juliet).

Admired brother-in-law of Dory, Cheryl, Rob (Marian) and Gary (Deyanne), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gary loved sports and practiced many with passion and persistence – basketball, football, swimming, and running four national marathons.

He loved the pure beauty of mathematics, and taught math for 32 years at Victoria Park S.S. and A.Y. Jackson S.S. He loved math puzzles and creating magic squares.

He thought he might eventually crack the code to winning Lotto 649. Born into a noisy family with big egos, he never sought the limelight. Instead, he carved a place for himself defined by a quiet and gentle presence, humility, kindness, generosity and gratitude.

Gradually, MS robbed him of his mobility and vision, but it never touched his spirit, his empathy for others, his warm and loving smile, his great sense of humour, his ability to enjoy life and his determination to live each day fully.

But most of all, he loved Pat and Jennifer with all his heart and never let a day go by without telling them so.

A celebration of Gary's life will take place later this year.
