Chandler WilliamCHANDLER, William Sumner  -  November 9, 1932 - May 6, 2022

With heavy hearts we share the passing of Bill, after a brave journey with Alzheimer's disease.

Bill was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of William and Grace Chandler.

He spent his early years in New England with his sisters Barby and Lucy, and graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1957.

He was the beloved husband and best friend of Maureen Chandler (neƩ Blacker).

Loving father to Anne, Pamela and Jane and cherished Papa to Jonathan, Matthew, William, Rhys, Eben, Chase and Kate.

Flying was his passion, from fighter jet operations with the Maine Air National Guard to training with the 400 Reserve Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force.

During his teaching career with the Peel Board of Education, in the Business Department, he additionally developed and taught a basic aviation program.

Following retirement, Bill and Maureen spent many happy years in their home in Haliburton, on Lake Kashagawigamog - which became a gathering place for family, friends and dogs.

He volunteered at both St. Hilary's Mississauga and St. George's, Haliburton, and was an active blood donor, delivered Meals on Wheels and knit over 120 pray shawls for those in need.

The family is most grateful to the staff at Wyndham Manor, Oakville and thank them for the years of care they gave him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Hilary's Church, Mississauga, 2055 Hurontario St., on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the Alzheimer Society. May his final flight bring him rest and peace, he will be greatly missed.
