Hirst MargaretHIRST, Margaret   -  It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Rose Hirst, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in her 73rd year.

Margaret was the daughter of Domenica Dolores (Doris) and Carmel Paul Tonna.

She was the wife of the late Allen John Hirst.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Mary Jane (Jim) O'Dell and her brother, Shawn Scanlan.

She was a beloved auntie to Meaghan and Melissa and their families.

Margaret was the cherished mother of her only child, Denise Orrico (Robert) and grandmother to Joseph and her namesake, Maggie Rose.

She was the stepmother to Carrie Tonge (Richard), Mark Vansickle-Hirst (Heather) and the late Bob Hirst (Laurie) and step-grandmother to four, great-step-grandmother to eight.

Margaret spent her career working for the Municipality of the City of Toronto and retired after 31 years.

Her absence is immeasurable. Our heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Team at Dorothy Ley Hospice, particularly the wonderful and empathetic Dr. Rachel Wortzman and to the angelic nursing and PSW team at SRT, especially Terri-Lynn, Fayron and Kafi.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 4–8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows, 3055 Bloor St. W., Etobicoke, on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Family requests that all guests wear masks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice.
