MANDEL, Kathryn Margetta Doyhle   -  February 23, 1953 – May 24, 2022

After a decade long battle with GPA, surrounded by her family and bathed in their love, Kathryn passed away early in the evening of May 24th.

Loving and loved wife of Gerry, proud and nurturing mother of AJ, and Theo (Damian Karp), she was predeceased by her parents Joe and Margetta Doyle and her sister Lauren.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law Sharon (the late John) Zeiler and Marie (the late Fred) Mandel, and her nieces and nephews: (the late Ari), Lorne and Shari Zeiler, Brian and Sarah Zeiler-Kligman, Lawrence and Elana, Shayna (and the late Josh), Noah and Carly, and Aaron and Annie Mandel, and their children. Kathryn was a beautiful woman with a bright smile and a twinkle in her eyes.

She was a gracious, charming, warm, wise, kind, considerate, thoughtful and determined person. She was a supportive and loyal friend.

Highly creative, always ahead of her time, she dressed with style, created comfortable homes, baked wonderful cookies, elaborately decorated birthday cakes - especially for her children, and made pottery, stained glass and Ukrainian eggs among her many creative endeavours.

A stay-at-home mom (her proudest role was as a mom), she was an active participant in the Home and School or Parent Teachers Associations at the schools her children went to.

She was also an active volunteer in Goulding Park sports activities, including both Treasurer and Registrar for Goulding Park Hockey, as well as being active in the North York Hockey League and the GTHL.

A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.

If you would like to make a charitable donation in her memory, please consider food banks, programmes that provide financial support to disadvantaged or disabled youth participation in sports, your local humane society or North York General Hospital. The family would very much appreciate stories, memories, adventures or photos be shared at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
