Dean JohnDEAN, John H. Dean, CStJ   -  February 19, 1932 - June 11, 2022

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of John Dean, in his 90th year.

He peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family.

John will be sorely missed by Donna, his wife of 45 years, son Eric, daughter Carol, grandsons Justin and Scott (Rachel), great-granddaughter Paige, and Nelson, his pet cat.

There are many more family members, friends, and former colleagues from around the world that will miss him dearly.

John spent his early years in Liverpool, UK.

After time in the British Merchant Navy, he started his new Canadian adventure at the age of 19.

John's first job in Toronto was Jack Kent Cooke's chauffer. He was then hired as radio operator for Mr. Cooke's Toronto radio station, CKEY. Later, John started a commercial cleaning company, followed by a position in the Government of Ontario. John proudly served as the Commissioner of Metro Ambulance (now Toronto Paramedic Services) for 24 years.

His dedication to Metro Ambulance laid the foundations for our renowned pre-hospital care. John also initiated exchange programs with EMS partners in Brazil and England.

We wish to thank the PSWs who cared for John.

A special thank you to Lora-Lee – the best caregiver ever.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that you consider a donation to a Charity of Your Choice.
